Manchester United have reopened their interest in Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg after Ange Postecoglou made it clear that the Tottenham midfielder is no longer in their plans, according to reports.

The Dane has featured for under 80 minutes of Premier League football so far this season, with the Spurs coach opting for a pairing of Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr in the centre of the park.

Erik ten Hag had wanted a holding midfielder to come in during the summer window and managed to get Sofyan Amrabat over the line from Fiorentina.

But Italian outlet Corriere Dello Sport has claimed that the club have rekindled their interest in Hojbjerg, while Juventus are also huge admirers of the player.

It is thought that the Red Devils will try and make a play for Hojbjerg in the January transfer window and that now Spurs, who are not prepared to sanction a loan move, are demanding some £26million for his services.

Hojbjerg was also hotly pursued by Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid but a deal collapsed over the summer window, so he remains at Spurs but without much game-time.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg set to move on

Reporter Fabrizio Romano has claimed that the 28-year-old is weighing up his options and that he is likely to leave his current outfit during the next window.

The report claims that Tottenham are not prepared to loan Hojbjerg out – they want to sell him and are demanding £26 million to let him go.

Man Utd have endured a testing start to their campaign, having lost three of their opening three Premier League matches.

They secured a League Cup fixture against Newcastle, however, after beating Crystal Palace mid-week. They face the Eagles again this weekend, again at Old Trafford, though the likes of Lisandro Martinez and Sergio Reguilon will also sit out Saturday’s Premier League match against Roy Hodgson’s team.
