The 28-year-old has suffered multiple injury issues since moving to San Siro in 2021 and is currently sidelined through a thigh injury, which he suffered in Milan’s 0-0 Champions League draw against Newcastle.

However, both Chelsea and PSG are said to be interested in signing him. But, Calciomercato have reported that despite this, Maignan’s priority is to extend his contract at Milan.

The Frenchman’s current deal is due to expire in June 2026, meaning there is no rush to sign a new contract, but he remains focused on extending his stay at the Italian giants.

Maignan would, however, like to earn a salary that is representative of his status as one of the world’s best goalkeepers, according to the report.

The former Lille star wants to at least double his current annual wage of €2.8 million, and expects to be offered a deal worth €6/7m per year. Furthermore, he would like to sign a new deal that will run until 2028.

Chelsea and PSG’s goalkeeper situation

Chelsea signed Robert Sanchez and Djordje Petrovic this summer, with the former becoming their new number one ‘keeper following the departures of Kepa Arrizabalaga and Robert Sanchez.

The Blues also added Gabriel Slonina in 2022, but have still been linked with signing another goalkeeper amid concerns over whether Sanchez is good enough to be their starting goalkeeper.

As for PSG, they currently have Gianluigi Donnarumma and Keylor Navas on their books, with Navas not yet featuring this term since returning from his loan spell at Nottingham Forest.
