Romano provides latest transfer update on Atalanta wonderkid amid Liverpool & Man Utd interest
Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Atalanta youngster Giorgio Scalvini is being chased by “two important English clubs” amid reported interest from Liverpool and Manchester United.
The Italian defender has made 10 appearances in all competitions so far this season after establishing himself as a regular last season.
His emergence onto the senior stage has caught the attention of some of Europe’s biggest clubs and Romano has revealed that Premier League teams are beginning to circle.

The transfer expert said on his YouTube channel: “Many of you have been asking me about Italian talents and today I wanted to mention Giorgio Scalvini.
“He is one of the most talented centre-backs in Italy, [and he is] always doing great for Atalanta and he can play in a three at the back or a four at the back.
“What I can tell you is that important clubs around Europe are sending their scouts to keep an eye on Scalvini. From what I’m hearing, two important English clubs were in attendance [for Atalanta matches] in the past three or four weeks to keep an eye on Scalvini.

“At the moment I’m not allowed to share the names of the clubs, but I will keep you posted about that very soon. For Scalvini there is a lot of interest.
“He is considered as one of the most talented Italian players at the moment, doing great for Atalanta, and so keep an eye on him because Premier League clubs are moving around.”
Liverpool and Man Utd are interested
In September, 90min reported that Liverpool and Man Utd scouts were both in attendance for Italy’s 2-1 Euro 2024 qualifier win against Ukraine on Tuesday and Scalvini was one of several players being watched.
Man Utd are reportedly aware of the Italian thanks to their pursuit of his former Atalanta team-mate Rasmus Hojlund, with the Red Devils impressed by the 19-year-old.
Furthermore, Liverpool are keeping tabs on Scalvini as Jurgen Klopp eyes a defensive rebuild in 2024.
Scalvini is contracted to the Bergamo club until 2027, but both Liverpool and Man Utd are reportedly preparing offers as they get ready for a January bidding war.
