Jadon Sancho: Which team should sign troubled Man Utd star?
Jadon Sancho is facing an exit from Manchester United in January after being left out of the club’s team photo for the season, with the winger still yet to apologise for his recent misconduct.
The 23-year-old last played for United in August before spending time away from the first team after a social media post calling out manager Erik ten Hag following his criticism of Sancho’s attitude in training.
He has yet to be brought back into the fold after two months away and Ten Hag told reporters that there had been no developments yet, with Sancho unwilling to apologise to his teammates and manager for his role in the tension.
LATEST: Man Utd reaction to Jadon Sancho's future
Sancho is now expected to leave Old Trafford as soon as possible, however his wages of more than £250,000 a week could prove to be a stumbling block for interested teams, while the player himself rejected a move to Saudi Arabia in the summer.
With United keen to recoup as much of the €85 million they paid for Sancho in 2021, a compromise will need to be found if the England international is to be moved on.
Clubs in Turkey, Germany and Italy are believed to have explored the possibility of signing Sancho but which team could be most likely to try and resurrect the career of United’s troubled talent?
Sancho’s potential new teams
Sancho’s wages place him amongst United’s highest earners and it would be unlikely that the majority of teams in Europe would be willing or able to match his salary as well as meet the club’s asking price.
Teams will also be wary about bringing in a troubled player who hasn’t played much football in the past year, meaning a loan deal is most likely to be brokered to give Sancho a new environment with a view to him returning to United in a better mindset next summer.
DEJA VU: Dortmund suspend wonderkid in shades of Sancho crisis
Dortmund would be willing to bring Sancho back to the club but they would require a significantly cheaper deal, while Juventus and Besiktas have also been linked.
But SciSports analytics, which uses a data-driven algorithm to provide stats and insight into a player and their career pathway and potential, believes the best fit for Sancho to be with Inter in the Serie A, although it would require the winger to feature in an unorthodox role in Simone Inzaghi’s side.
Staying in the Premier League would naturally be a simple solution for Sancho and West Ham, Fulham and Aston Villa are touted as potential landing spots, all of whom could take the short-term gamble to help secure bring European football to their respective sides.
SciSports also believes Real Madrid to be a shock option, while Sancho may be more open to a transfer to Saudi Arabia this time around as his career appears to draw closer to a breaking point.
