EXCLUSIVE: Caicedo agent reveals why Chelsea transfer 'wasn't a matter of money'
Moises Caicedo’s agent has opened up to FootballTransfers following one of the biggest sagas of the summer in which the midfielder ultimately joined Chelsea for a British-record £115million.
Manuel Sierra, owner of Football Division Worldwide, helped his client land one of the most notable deals of the summer window following intense speculation from various Premier League sides.
After impressing at Brighton, Caicedo piqued the interest from the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool, and even at one point, during the January transfer window, Arsenal.

Late into the summer window, the Reds made a late-gasp offer for Caicedo, but their efforts were snubbed after Chelsea came over the top and landed the 21-year-old on an eight-year contract. Sierra has spoken to FootballTransfers about how the affair unfolded.
Did you or Caicedo speak to Jurgen Klopp personally about a move?
“It’s true he [Jurgen Klopp] talked to Moises and it’s an honour such an important one talked to him, expressing him his desire for Moises to join Liverpool, but Moises decided that he wanted Chelsea long ago, before Liverpool came in the last days.”

What attracted Caciedo to Chelsea?
“It’s a medium to long-term project, not at short one at all, so he is conscious of it and he wants to live all the big moments Chelsea has lived in its history from inside - he has been always a Chelsea fan.”
Was Liverpool ever an option for Caicedo?
“Obviously, it was, when a giant like Liverpool wants you, it’s always an option, but because of the respect we have with Chelsea, and the support they were showing us since January without stopping for a day, we thought they had to have the chance for a very limited time to match Liverpool’s offer to Brighton and they did it even they went over.”
What was it about Chelsea that Caicedo was attracted to over Liverpool?
"Just the loyalty - the values of somebody supporting you in the worst moments he suffered with all this movement from Brighton, that was the main reason to stay strong with Chelsea and to choose them.”
Some fans have said that Caicedo has gone to Chelsea purely for money - do you think that's an unfair assessment?
“The reality is that we had an agreement with Chelsea since weeks ago and both offers were very similar, so it wasn’t a matter of money at all, it was a matter of respecting the agreement we had.”
What does the future hold for Piero Hincapie?
"He has come back, he is fit again and looking forward to performing very well from now on. Let’s see what happens in future."
