Liverpool’s hopes of signing Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala have been given a major blow following reports that he is not looking to leave the Bundesliga giants.

Musiala, 21, has been linked with a Bayern exit in recent days, with Fabrizio Romano confirming that a host of European giants are keeping tabs on his development, including Liverpool and Chelsea, while Spanish media report that Real Madrid are also keen.

Bayern are confident that he will snub transfer interest and sign a new deal in Bavaria, while Florian Plettenberg has now reported that Musiala is not thinking about leaving the club.

The Sky Germany reporter posted on Twitter: “Jamal Musiala is currently not thinking about leaving FC Bayern. Liverpool is monitoring him as a possible top replacement for [Mohamed] Salah in 2024.

“But his move to Liverpool is absolutely unlikely. If he really would leave Bayern in the next few years there are only two realistic options for him: Real Madrid & Man City!”

Both Manchester City and Real have been linked with a move for Musiala and it seems as though Liverpool could miss out on another top target to Los Blancos.

What has been said about Musiala?

Former Liverpool forward Michael Owen spoke about Musiala ahead of Bayern’s Champions League win over Galatasaray on Tuesday evening, in which the German scored once and assisted once.

Owen told TNT Sports: “I think he’s exceptional. Really exceptional. It’s such a shame he chose Germany over England when he was picking his national team. I thought he was brilliant in the last major tournament.

“I mean, lots of people are comparing him to Bellingham at the moment,” Owen added. I think he’s a different player, he might play in a similar position - but I think he’s a different type of player.

"He’s an incredible runner of the ball. He’s just unbelievable when it comes to dribbling - I mean he’s got the lot, this lad.”
