Liverpool have added 20-year-old Bundesliga sensation Maximilian Beier to their shopping list, according to a report.

Jurgen Klopp is once again keen to raid the league where he originally made his name. Over the summer, the German and his sporting director, compatriot Jorg Schmadtke, signed three Bundesliga stars in the form of Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo and Ryan Gravenberch to bolster the midfield.

Now, the Liverpool boss could once again look to his former stomping ground in a bid to reinforce his attack. It seems that last year's marquee signing Darwin Nunez, despite showing plenty of promise, is still not out of his rut after missing another sitter in the Europa League on Thursday.

Perhaps because of Nunez severely underwhelming since arriving last term, the Reds are keeping an eye on Hoffenheim star Maximilian Beier, according to BILD's Christian Falk.

Reds want Beier

That's at least what the journalist told CaughtOffside. Falk claims that the Hoffenheim forward is "definitely on the [short]list, as he brings something that’s very interesting for Liverpool!"

“His high speed this season was 35.45kmph," he continued. "It’s also really good for Germany; he’s the second-fastest German player behind Leroy Sane. His contract at Hoffenheim runs until 2025 and I heard he has a release clause; he’ll be a little bit more expensive for English clubs but for German clubs he’ll only cost €20m."

"So you see, Liverpool are looking around at the Bundesliga again. He’s not very expensive, which would fit into Liverpool’s business model. Keep in mind, though, that Brentford and Everton’s interest in the player is concrete.”

It was really only a matter of time before Beier began being linked with big clubs after enjoying an electric start to the Bundesliga season - his first getting regular minutes in the top flight after two impressive years on loan at second-tier Hannover. Beier has scored four goals and assisted one in six games so far this term.
