The Jadon Sancho saga is set to conclude in January, but that may not be the end of his time at Manchester United.

The 23-year-old is still no closer to returning to the fold under Erik ten Hag after publicly calling the Dutchman a liar prior to the last international break. Sancho is currently training alone and forced to dine with the reserves after being banished from all first-team facilities for refusing to apologise.

Speculation about his future has abounded since his spat with Ten Hag and it is clear that someone must move on - and it won't be the coach (unless United's poor form continues). Rumours linking Sancho with a return to the Bundesliga were initially shot down by German media, but fresh news suggests that those links were not as improbable as initially suspected.

Sky Germany reports that Dortmund boss Edin Terzic "is in regular contact with Sancho as they appreciate each other very much." But the Black and Yellow will struggle to engineer a deal and therefore "a return to Dortmund in the winter is very unlikely but not 100 per cent excluded for all involved."

Sancho 'on the verge of leaving'

The same report does, however, claim that "Jadon Sancho is on the verge of leaving Man Utd in winter," with "a loan [being] more likely than a permanent deal at this stage."

Sancho is desperate to get back to playing football and this evidently won't be happening at Old Trafford. The winger is still under contract until 2026, so a temporary departure won't spell the end of his time in Manchester unless the loaning club eventually makes the deal permanent.

The above-mentioned report made no mention of other clubs, besides Dortmund, that could be interested in acquiring the England international's services, but if he truly is "on the verge of leaving," specific names should be disclosed in the near future.
