Gabriel Jesus has made a surprising admission after yet again failing to score for Brazil.

The Arsenal striker is regarded as one of the best offensive players in Europe. His versatility makes him an attractive option to have for any coach, but this season hasn't been easy for the Brazilian.

The 26-year-old's first campaign at the Emirates after his €52 million move from Man City was disrupted by injury, yet Jesus still hit a respectable 11 goals as the Gunners ran his ex-club close. While injury issues have persisted this term, the scoring hasn't.

Despite hitting three in three for Arsenal in the Champions League group stage so far, Jesus only has one paltry Premier League goal to his name in 2023/24. Worse yet, for Brazil, his record is legitimately awful.

Jesus' admission

The Selecao were beaten by reigning world champions Argentina in a historic fixture on Tuesday. It was the first time Brazil had lost a World Cup qualifier on home soil, made even worse by the fact that the defeat was inflicted by the country's hated rivals in a game that was also marked by police violence.

Despite playing the full 90 as Brazil's centre-forward, Jesus yet again drew a blank in front of goal. Indeed, since 2019, the striker has only scored once for his nation. Nevertheless, it still came as a shock that the 26-year-old admitted after the game that scoring is not his "strong point."

"There are things I can't control," Jesus told the press. "The goal is inevitable. I believe it's not my strong point, but I score goals and I'm there to score goals. When coming back, it will happen. It's work. I work quietly, I'm not one to respond to criticism, I'm not one to be happy for praise. I already was, I won't be anymore."
