'Complete meltdown' - Fans react to Newcastle's demolition of Chelsea

Many Chelsea fans believed their side had turned a corner after a string of good results, but their latest outing has shown that the Blues are still the same old inconsistent side.

Chelsea turned up at St. James' Park full of confidence after wins over Blackburn and Tottenham and off the back of a scintillating 4-4 draw with reigning champions Man City. Newcastle were quite the opposite as Eddie Howe's side had been decimated by injuries.

Yet, when the match kicked off, it looked as though Chelsea were the team with a double-digit number of players sidelined. Alexander Isak opened the scoring, but a spectacular Raheem Sterling free-kick put the Blues back on level terms heading into halftime.

In the second half, however, Chelsea crumbled. With Mauricio Pochettino only able to watch on from the stands, his inconsistent and immature side collapsed before Newcastle's pressure, conceding twice in quick succession and then seeing their captain Reece James given his marching orders for a second yellow. Anthony Gordon put the game beyond doubt with a brilliant goal.

Chelsea fans were left fuming at the 4-1 result, while opposing supporters naturally revelled in the Blues' misery.

The only word I can think of to describe this second-half performance is immature. After some positive progress in the last few games, this is a step back.
