The Mexican striker is one of Europe's most sought-after commodities as he is enjoying a ridiculous 2023. After helping Feyenoord win the Eredivisie last term, the 22-year-old has taken things to a new level this season, scoring a whopping 15 goals in 15 outings for the Rotterdam side so far.

With interest in the striker proliferating fast, there have been rumours that Feyenoord could demand as much as €100 million for Gimenez, breaking the Eredivisie transfer record set when Man Utd signed Antony from Ajax. Fabrizio Romano, however, insists that €45m could be enough to convince the Dutch side to sell.

What did Romano say?

Speaking on his YouTube channel, the transfer expert revealed: "We had rumours about Chelsea, we had rumours about Tottenham. Tottenham sent their people to follow the boy multiple times. He is doing very well and scoring goals, he's a very, very good player."

"But, at the same time, from what I'm hearing, at the moment, Chelsea are focused on different names. So, with Santi Gimenez at the moment it's not something like a priority for Chelsea."

"They know the situation very well, they know also that Santi Gimenez could be available for something around €45m in January, but at the moment nothing concrete [is] ongoing."

"Important to say that Tottenham keep following Santi Gimenez. They know the player so well, they're sending their scouts to keep an eye on the boy and so let's see what happens for Gimenez, who could be a really important and interesting player on the market in 2024."
