Douglas Luiz is attracting more and more interest from Premier League sides, but Aston Villa's transfer stance has not changed.

The weekend once again illustrated what a fantastic job Unai Emery is doing as his Villans defeated a shorthanded Tottenham to climb into the top four. A man instrumental to the Birmingham side's success is Douglas Luiz, with the midfielder becoming a real star and leader in recent seasons.

A subject of intense interest from Arsenal in 2022, he ultimately decided to extend his stay at Villa Park and hasn't looked back since. Not to be deterred, however, the Gunners continue to be keen on the Brazilian, fully in keeping with Mikel Arteta and Edu's idea that once a target has been identified it will be pursued until a deal becomes entirely impossible or stops making sense.

But the 25-year-old's performances this term have now also attracted even more big hitters who would be interested in making a move - but all of them will likely come away empty-handed.

Liverpool, City enter the race

According to 90min, Liverpool and Manchester City have also expressed an interest in Luiz, who used to be on the books at the Etihad prior to his move to Villa but never got on the pitch in a competitive match.

Emery and his higher-ups, however, have absolutely no intention to sell and so far Luiz has not indicated any willingness to leave Villa Park. On the contrary, he is said to be keen to help his side get into the Champions League.

After the game against Tottenham, Emery made the club's stance very clear, stating: "He's playing very good. He’s improved a lot, his commitment is amazing. I am very happy with him and I want to keep him of course. I think he's happy with us...And his performance like today was amazing. I want him."
