‘He is not Cristiano Ronaldo’ - Garnacho SLAMMED after Everton wonder goal
Alejandro Garnacho has been slammed for his Cristiano Ronaldo-like celebration following his wonder goal against Everton.
Garnacho scored arguably the goal of the season with a sensational bicycle kick as United won the game 3-0 at Goodison Park on Sunday.
The young Argentine then mimicked Cristiano Ronaldo’s famous celebration by running to the corner flag and doing a spinning jump with his legs apart.
This celebration has angered former Juventus, Bayern Munich, Barcelona, Inter and Chile midfield star Arturo Vidal.
What did Vidal say?
"The only bad thing or what I didn't understand is why he celebrates like Cristiano,” Vidal said on Twitch. “He has to make his own name.
"He is an already great player. It's good that he is his idol, respect for that, but then he has to make his name. How are you going to celebrate a goal and remember it? I don't know, celebrate it another way. But it was a great goal, it was a great goal."
This is not the first time this season that Garnacho’s antics have caused controversy.
Garnacho was also slammed following United’s 4-3 defeat to Copenhagen earlier this month.
The second Copenhagen goal came about as Harry Maguire was penalised in the box for handling the ball.
Diogo Goncalves stepped up and duly converted the spot kick, but not before Red Devils youngster Garnacho attempted to scuff the penalty spot, as he had already done at Old Trafford in the reverse fixture when the Danes were awarded a stoppage-time kick that was saved by Andre Onana.
Garnacho slammed
Copenhagen players didn't take too kindly to the 19-year-old's actions and defender Denis Vavro had some choice words for him after the match. "I saw that he tried to do something about the penalty kick," he told Bold.dk, "but Kevin Diks stood in front and blocked."
"It is the second time. And then on our track? To me, he is a clown. He has the mentality of a child when he tries something like this again. In an away game. One thing is at home in the 97th minute, but here in the first half. I don’t understand him trying to do that.”
Garnacho has emerged as one of the most exciting young players in European football over the last year or so but his personality and character has been called into question on a number of occasions now.
