Real Madrid's hopes of landing Kylian Mbappe threaten to be disrupted by Bayern Munich and Thomas Tuchel.

Mbappe will play for Bayern next season if head coach Tuchel has anything to do with it, as the former PSG boss wants to be reunited with the France international attacker.

The attacker has been in fine form for Les Parisiens this season, scoring 15 goals in 15 games for the Parc des Princes side.

The 24-year-old’s future, though, is shrouded in mystery. At present, his contract is due to expire at the end of June 2024, which means he will be available as a free agent.

Tuchel admits that he is eager to snap the player up.

“Do I want to sign Kylian Mbappe? Yes, yes, he's going to play for us, that’s clear,” he laughed when speaking to Canal+.

“He’s extraordinary. If he wants to come, I’ll go pick him up by bike! But I think that's not going to be reality.”

Who is leading the race for Mbappe?

Real Madrid is the club that has been most closely linked with a move with Mbappe next summer, but the interest of the Spanish club appears to have faded a little lately, with rumours suggesting they could instead choose to raid Tuchel’s Bayern side for Alphonso Davies.

In addition, Spanish reports suggest the club is no longer actively chasing the France star, although the French media believes this to be little more than a smokescreen.

Even if Madrid’s interest is really dropped, the Premier League remains a possible destination for Mbappe, with Liverpool still linked with a move for the player, who has previously outlined his admiration of the style of football that Jurgen Klopp plays at Anfield.

PSG, meanwhile, remain optimistic that Mbappe will ultimately sign a contract renewal with the club, despite a dramatic conflict with the player during the summer, during which he was frozen out of training and even missed the opening Ligue 1 game of the season while it raged on.
