Manchester City are on the verge of completing a deal to sign Leeds United youngster Finley Gorman after a seven-figure fee was agreed between the two clubs.

Gorman is just 15 years old and is set to earn Leeds over £1 million, despite never making a senior appearance for the club.

The Athletic have reported that City are set to pay a British record fee for a 15-year-old in order to land Gorman. A deal has not yet been completed, but it’s believed the midfielder will join Man City’s academy.

Gorman is still on a schoolboy deal with Leeds and isn’t eligible for his first professional contract with the club until September 2025, when he turns 17. However, Man City have swooped and look to have agreed a deal to land the talented teenager.

He is the youngest player to score on two occasions in a Premier League U18 fixture, after netting twice against Stoke City aged just 14 years and 326 days old.

Furthermore, Gorman made his England U16 debut earlier this campaign, despite being just 14 years old at the time.

The midfielder will become the latest high-profile academy signing made by Man City after they pinched Harrison Parker from Manchester United during the summer.

Archie Gray wanted by Liverpool

Gorman isn’t the only Leeds wonderkid who could be on his way out of Elland Road either. That is because Liverpool are eyeing up a move for Archie Gray, although they could face competition from Crystal Palace and Merseyside rivals Everton.

Gray, 17, has been a fixture in Leeds’ squad in the Championship this season, with reports suggesting the Yorkshire-based side will demand between £40-£50 million (€46-€57m) for his signature.

Jurgen Klopp’s interest has been confirmed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who recently revealed: “Archie Gray is an impressive young player at Leeds United. Liverpool have sent their scouts to follow him multiple times,” Romano said.

“They are not the only club as many teams appreciate him and keep tracking Archie, but for sure Liverpool are one of them. There’s no bid or concrete negotiation at this stage, but they appreciate the player.”
