Man Utd decide on SHOCK replacement for Ten Hag
Manchester United have decided on a shock replacement for Erik ten Hag and have submitted an offer for Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti.
That is according to Cope, which reports that Man Utd have made an offer to Ancelotti to take over at Old Trafford at the end of the season.
Ancelotti’s contract at the Santiago Bernabeu runs out at the end of the current campaign, although there has been some talk that Madrid could still look to extend.
Nevertheless, it has been widely believed that Ancelotti will take over as the new coach of the Brazil national team next summer.
The Selecao are desperate to appoint Ancelotti and have left their manager position open as they have their heart set on the Italian.
But Cope reports that Man Utd are now trying to hijack the deal and have made Ancelotti their top target to succeed Ten Hag.
Ten Hag’s position at Man Utd is very much under scrutiny after the club had their worst start to a season in over 30 years.
United have no chance of challenging for the Premier League and face a battle to even finish in the top four.
They are also struggling to qualify for the Champions League knockouts and will likely have to win their last two games in the group against Galatasaray and Bayern Munich to qualify. United have picked up just three points from four games so far, losing away at Copenhagen and at home to Galatasaray.
Ten Hag has also fallen out with a number of first-team players, and currently has exiled Jadon Sancho with reports of fallouts with Casemiro and Raphael Varane.
Previously he had a bust-up with Cristiano Ronaldo last season, which ended in the Portuguese superstar rescinding his contract at the club before the 2022 World Cup.
Ancelotti is seen as someone who can manage Man Utd’s difficult dressing room, while he is regarded as one of the best coaches in the history of the game.
