Man Utd target 'ideal for Barcelona' as BARGAIN release clause revealed
Manchester United will have mixed feelings about the latest update on long-time target Jeremie Frimpong as his bargain release clause has been revealed, while it has also been claimed that he would be perfect for Barcelona.
The Dutch right-back has a buyout clause of only €40 million, claims Axel Hesse, reporter at BILD. The nominal defender, who plays as a winger in reality, is one of the standouts every week at Bayer Leverkusen as they sit at the top of the Bundesliga. However, it is expected that this will be his last season in Leverkusen.
"If you had asked me after last season whether Jeremie would still be playing for Leverkusen, I would have thought it impossible," Hesse acknowledges. "Big clubs had shown interest, there were contacts with Barcelona and Manchester United at an early stage."

The fact that a transfer ultimately did not happen was a setback for Frimpong, Hesse states. "I think he had already said goodbye to the club in his mind. So he had to recharge. That was difficult for him, but when you see him play now, you see that he has succeeded. He plays a great role in the team that is not only at the top of the Bundesliga, but also plays the best football in Germany."
Frimpong to be sold?
On October 3, the one-time Dutch international signed a new contract until the summer of 2028 - "with a release clause of €40m for next summer," Hesse asserts."If he continues to play like this, he will absolutely be sold."
"Spanish football is tailor-made for him. If you ask me, Jeremie is the ideal right-back for a team like Barcelona." The buyout clause is remarkably low as Frimpong has a transfer value of €48.7m.

The Dutchman has managed to score five times and provide seven assists in 16 games for Bayer Leverkusen this season. This means he is involved in a goal every 94 minutes on average. Last season, the wing-back scored 9 goals and notched 11 assists in 48 matches.
