Marcus Rashford told to join Man City as Man Utd struggles continue
Marcus Rashford has been told to join Pep Guardiola's Manchester City by former Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood.
Sherwood, who won the Premier League as a Blackburn Rovers player, thinks that Guardiola would get the very best out of the winger.
This comes after Rashford, and the entire United team, have failed to perform in recent weeks.
ODDS: The favourites to replace Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford
"In my opinion, Marcus Rashford is good enough to play for Manchester City, but having watched him for Manchester United over the past few months, I’d be called crazy for that," Sherwood told William Hill.
"I believe that he is good enough to play for City and that Pep Guardiola would take him. He would work with him and he would play him exactly how he needs to be played.
"When he plays for England, he doesn’t play badly. He needs people playing in and around him, giving him the ball in the correct areas.
"He gets some criticism for not tracking back but if he’s not getting the ball when he’s forward, why would he be willing to do that? If you keep giving him the ball in the correct areas, then he’ll put a shift in for the team and Guardiola would make sure of that."
Rashford was United's talisman last season, scoring 17 Premier League goals and providing five assists.
However, the Englishman has just one goal and one assist in 10 league games in the 2023-24 campaign - a key reason for the Red Devils' struggles.
Erik ten Hag to be sacked?
Erik ten Hag is said to be on 'thin ice' at Manchester United after overseeing the club’s worst start to a season in 61 years.
United crashed out of the Carabao Cup on Wednesday, losing 3-0 at home to a rotated Newcastle side, making it eight defeats in 14 games.

Although Ten Hag has received backing from the club during their poor run, The Times state that the defeat to Newcastle, as well as the 3-0 home defeat to rivals Manchester City last weekend, have put his position under threat.
Sporting Lisbon manager Ruben Amorim and ex-Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane are viewed as potential replacements, but the situation is said to be ‘hugely complicated’ by the uncertainty over United’s ownership.
The Glazer family are in talks with Sir Jim Ratcliffe for the INEOS CEO to buy 25% of the club for £1.4 billion, with the billionaire – Britain’s richest man – said to be handed control of United’s footballing operations.
