Giorgio Scalvini is attracting the attention of some of Europe’s elite for his displays for Atalanta.
The centre-back is likely to be the next huge sale that the Bergamo side makes, following the departure of Rasmus Hojlund to Manchester United during the summer window.
There already has been plenty of buzz about Scalvini, with his agent recently claiming that he is wanted by ‘all Europe’s top clubs.’

Scalvini was born in Chiari and started to feature for Atalanta’s youth setup in 2015. Five years later he was given his first call-up to the senior squad, making his debut against Udinese, coming on as a substitute in the 85th minute, when he was 17 years old.
He has gone on to shine for Atalanta since, being able to show that he is more than a solid defender for the club. Indeed, he is the archetype of a contemporary defender, being able to compound defensive tenacity with technique and agility. He is good on the ball and in the build-up phase, as well as being able to deliver a high volume of defensive actions.
A forward-minded player, Scalvini is also to make a positive pass forward. He does this with precision, breaking the line with a slick ball into the feet of a team-mate in midfield. He ventures into the opponents’ box when needed and is a huge threat when it comes to set pieces. He is a marauding centre-back with vast potential, which is why there has been so many clubs linked to him.
At the time of writing, the 19-year-old has played 64 games in all competitions for Atalanta, netting four goals along the way. Scalvini, who won the 2023 Best Italian Golden Boy, is now being looked at by some huge clubs ahead of the upcoming transfer windows.
