Ramsdale urged to leave Arsenal by former Gunners ace

Former Arsenal goalkeeper Vito Mannone has urged Aaron Ramsdale to find game time elsewhere.

Having lost his place to loan signing David Raya in the summer, Ramsdale is now only Arsenal's number two despite being so impressive last term. The 25-year-old has seen his game time diminish drastically and this has, in turn, given rise to speculation about his future.

While it is clear that Arsenal want to keep hold of their backup at least until the summer, as exclusively revealed by FootballTransfers, every player has a price and the Gunners may be tempted to cash in on him should a suitable offer arrive. However, where that bid could come from is unclear as links to the likes of Chelsea and Newcastle have all gone cold in recent times.

Therefore, it appears as though the England international will have to bide his time until the summer. If his fortunes don't improve until then, he will surely be considering his options and he would do well to follow in the footsteps of Emiliano Martinez, according to Vito Mannone.

Ramsdale should leave Arsenal

Martinez spent eight years at the Emirates but only made 15 senior appearances, eventually departing for Aston Villa. Since leaving, he has won a World Cup and been honoured as the world's best goalkeeper. Mannone himself is a former Gunners goalkeeper who had to leave to kickstart his career.

“It’s not easy but in Ramsdale’s place I’d have taken it badly,” the 35-year-old Lille goalkeeper told The Sun. “My advice to him is to keep working. I waited eight years before I became a Premier League regular, Emi Martinez had to wait 10 years before stealing the show.

“He also had many loans and paid his dues. But those who work and bide their time eventually end up making it. But if Ramsdale’s moment won’t come again, he should look for it elsewhere! There’s not much else he can do. I lost my place after a great year. It was tough to accept.”
