Axel Disasi is unlikely to leave Chelsea during the January transfer window, according to Fabrizio Romano, amid links of mid-season departure.

The France international only joined Chelsea this summer, but he has already been touted for an exit as the Blues prepare for another busy window of transfer activity.

Reports suggest that several Stamford Bridge stars may be offloaded in January to fund a move for Napoli superstar Victor Osimhen, with Disasi reportedly not safe despite his recent transfer from AS Monaco.

Disasi, 25, joined Chelsea for €45 million during the summer window, but he has been touted for a move away in January, with Bayern Munich named as a possible destination.

However, transfer expert Romano has played down links of a move away. He revealed to Caught Offside: “I have to say I’m not aware of anything changing with Axel Disasi’s situation, despite rumours that he could already be a candidate to leave the club in January.”

“Disasi only joined in the summer but is already being linked with Bayern Munich, though I still think the likely defender to leave Chelsea is Trevoh Chalobah for the January window,” Romano continued. “Chelsea are looking at centre-backs but I’d not link that to Disasi.”

Disasi’s time at Chelsea so far

Disasi has been a divisive character since joining Chelsea for a fairly hefty fee during the summer.

The Frenchman has endured some shaky moments since his switch from Monaco, although Mauricio Pochettino’s struggles this campaign can’t be placed entirely on Disasi at all.

He has been a decent acquisition, but it remains evident that Thiago Silva alongside either Benoit Badiashile or Levi Colwill is Pochettino’s best option when it comes to a centre-back pairing.

While Disasi may not leave in January, the likes of Ian Maatsen and Noni Madueke could join Chalobah in leaving Stamford Bridge amid their struggles this campaign.
