Donyell Malen no longer sees a future at Borussia Dortmund.

The attacker is not satisfied with the way coach Edin Terzic works and is already planning his departure, according to Sky Germany. Borussia Dortmund are willing to let the Dutch international go, provided that interested clubs meet their sky-high asking price.

Two years ago, Borussia Dortmund paid €30 million to lure Malen away from PSV off the back of his impressive form in the Eredivisie. The above-mentioned report asserts that the Black and Yellow are keen to recoup at the very least that same amount, and will likely demand a bit more.

The German top club see Malen as a good candidate to bring in some money as the versatile attacker has more often than not flattered to deceive since his move. The right-winger currently has an Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) of €35.4m.

Malen wants out

According to the German media outlet, Malen is dissatisfied with his current position under Terzic. The attacker would prefer to act as a left-winger or as a centre-forward, while Terzic now mainly plays him out on the right.

This season, Malen has been a regular under the coach, but for the Champions League match against Newcastle United in November (a 2-0 win), he was suddenly dropped. The Dutch international expressed his dissatisfaction on social media and therefore an early departure does not seem to be out of the question.

In any case, there is no shortage of interest. Liverpool and Manchester United, among others, are said to be closely monitoring Malen's achievements. Liverpool are eagerly looking for a new striker.

The Reds have a fairly slim forward line, with any injury potentially causing problems for Jürgen Klopp's team. That is precisely the case now that Diogo Jota recently went down injured against Manchester City.

Klopp therefore thinks that the Portuguese is out of the equation for the time being: “Diogo will take a little longer. We don't know exactly how long, but it's a bit more serious. We have to go check it out.”

In the meantime, with the opening of the winter transfer window not far away, Malen decided to switch his agents, exchanging Rafaela Pimenta's agency for SEG, which represents fellow Liverpool star Cody Gakpo and Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag.

The news of the switch was shared by Malen's new management through official channels. “Great to have you with us now, Donyell,” SEG wrote on their Instagram page.
