Five players who could join Tottenham in January
With the January transfer window starting to heat up, Tottenham will be wanting to bolster their side as they push on for a top-four spot in the Premier League.
The club enjoyed a great start to the season under Ange Postecoglou, with the side top of the table for a period, but results haveleveled out more recently.
The club are enduring something of an injury crisis, with James Maddison’s absence being one of the biggest concerns.
It will be possible that the club will look to purchase players for a lot of positions across their squad. Here we take a look at five fresh faces who could join up with the side in the winter window.
Santiago Gimenez
Santiago Gimenez has been one of the most prolific strikers in Europe this season. For Feyenoord, the forward has scored 19 goals in 20 games, including three assists. Spurs are still in dire need of replacing Harry Kane, who left for Bayern Munich over the summer, and this is especially pertinent as Richarlison is struggling to find form in front of goal. Gimenez has been extensively linked to the club - and his record in front of goal is good reason for Spurs to go for him.
Timo Werner s
This one appears to be already sealed, with reports suggesting that Tottenham have agreed to sign Timo Werner on loan from RB Leipzig with the option to make the deal permanent at the end of the season.
The 27-year-old now must fly to London for his medical and Spurs will cover his wages for the rest of the campaign.
Werner scored 23 goals in 89 appearances for Chelsea and returned to Leipzig in 2022.
Ansu Fati
Ansu Fati is currently on loan at Brighton, but reports have suggested that Spurs are keen on his services. It’s no secret Barcelona are after funds, especially to put towards a new holding midfielder, and as the winger has some Premier League experience, he could be a suitable player for Spurs. Barcelona and his agent will be wanting to find Fati a club and the north London club make a lot of sense.
Sacha Boey
Sacha Boey has been linked to Spurs ahead of next year. The French professional footballer who plays as a right-back for Super Lig club Galatasaray, where he’s thrived. Boey has also been linked to Arsenal and Manchester United before, which is an indication of his talent if anything. In buying the 23-year-old, Spurs will not only have a player for the now but for the future, too.
Conor Gallagher
Tottenham made an attempt for Conor Gallagher over the summer window but failed to bring him in. But what’s been Spurs’ failing has been Chelsea’s gain - the general consensus is that Gallagher is one of Chelsea’s brightest players this season, which of course will make any deal harder to do.
But Chelsea are on something of a downward trajectory, and this will only help the club in bringing in the midfielder. A lot would depend on whether Gallagher pushes to leave in the winter window - but you can count Chelsea will be desperate to keep him at this point.
