Liverpool 'closely following' Juventus starlet after wonder goal
Liverpool are keeping a close eye on Juventus wonderkid Kenan Yildiz, according to a report.
The Turkish youngster is regarded as one of the brightest talents in his age group in all of Europe and he showed exactly why during the recent international break. Despite being just 18, Yildiz featured for Turkey's seniors against Germany in Berlin and notched a cracking goal in the visitors' 3-2 win.
Yildiz is not a stranger to Germany. On the contrary, the youngster was born in Regensburg and eventually ended up in Bayern's youth system. However, prior to last season, Yildiz decided it was time for a new challenge and signed for Juventus, mostly featuring for the U19s in his maiden campaign. He finished the season with a whopping 11 goals and seven assists in 29 Primavera 1 games.
Because of his time in Germany, Yildiz is no stranger to Liverpool sporting director Jorg Schmadtke and the latter is apparently very keen to bring the teenager to Anfield.
Yildiz on his way to England?
That's at least according to a report from AS. The Spanish outlet asserts that Liverpool are 'closely following' Yildiz and that the youngster was already on Schmadtke's radar back when he was in charge of Wolfsburg's recruitment.
It is said that the 18-year-old fits the bill in terms of what Liverpool are looking for as he can feature centrally and out wide, as a ten and a striker. There is a problem, however: Juventus.
The Bianconeri have no intention whatsoever to lose a player they deem to be the future of their club. They value Yildiz highly and he is a regular fixture with the first team now, having made five Serie A appearances so far this season. Moreover, they tied him down until 2027 in August and the new deal does not contain a release clause.
Liverpool's financial muscle could test the Italians' resolve, but it will be very tough indeed to land the youngster.
