EXCLUSIVE: Man City eye Bayern Munich midfielder Kimmich after Tuchel fallout
Manchester City are looking to bring in Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich as Pep Guardiola has put the German international at the top of his list of targets, FootballTransfers sources reveal.
We understand that the Spaniard wanted to bring in Kimmich before they bid for Declan Rice, who eventually joined Arsenal for a club-record fee.
However, at the time Kimmich was happy with staying put with the Bundesliga champions. Now we are told that the 28-year-old has fallen out with head coach Thomas Tuchel and his future at the Allianz Arena looks more uncertain - with the Citizens extremely hopeful of securing his services.
It’s believed that Kimmich would bring control to the Man City midfield at a time when they are arguably missing the departed Ilkay Gundogan.
Kimmich has a wealth of experience and even worked under Guardiola before when the former Barcelona head coach was in the dugout at Bayern. Kimmich’s contract is up with his current side in 2025 and he has reportedly started looking for an agent that will help facilitate a move away.
Man City are in need of a resurgence after their form has seen them drop to fourth in the league table.
Who else are Man City targeting?
We are told that Man City’s interest in Valentin Barco is progressing and his representatives visited the Premier League club’s training facility this week to talk about a possible transfer.
The teenager has a €10million release clause attached to his current deal at Boca Juniors - while his contract is up in December of next year.
It’s thought that the youngster is very keen on a move to the Etihad and Guardiola wants to see a deal wrapped up sooner rather than later.
