Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has hilariously hit back at Antony after the Brazilian criticised the way pundits have been talking about him and the club.

The Red Devils appear to be on a crusade against the media. After banning several high-profile reporters from Erik ten Hag's press conference before the crucial clash with Chelsea on the grounds that they had gone behind the club's back in reporting that the Dutchman had lost the dressing room, winger Antony also blasted the media.

The €95 million signing, who, unlike even some goalkeepers, still has not recorded a single goal contribution this term, told The United Stand: "Today, I see criticism coming from former club players and other people in the media, who unreasonably express their opinions and influence thousands of fans, sometimes even when I do not play."

"But I’ve never seen them give constructive criticism, which will help me be a better professional. None of them have ever sent me a message to see how I am feeling, especially during this period of turbulence that I am going through. The ‘digital court’ is ruining lives – contexts are left aside, and the truth no longer matters."

Scholes hits back

In light of Antony's comments, Paul Scholes, who has been one of the harshest critics of this current, poor iteration of Man Utd, took to Instagram to "encourage" the Brazilian with some "constructive criticism."

The club legend tagged the 23-year-old and wrote: "Run as fast as you can up and down, score goals and make goals pls...good luck tonight my friend."

Antony will have a chance to record his first goal contribution of the season against Chelsea, having controversially been given the nod along with Alejandro Garnacho ahead of Marcus Rashford on the wing. A loss would put more pressure on the Red Devils and could spell the end of Erik ten Hag's reign.
