Onana issues perfect response after Van Dijk criticises Man Utd goalkeeper in the tunnel
Virgil van Dijk has reportedly taken aim at Andre Onana after Manchester United's 0-0 draw at Liverpool.
TalkSport report that the defender was not happy with the way the goalkeeper performed during the game.
It’s thought that Van Dijk approached Onana in the tunnel after the match as the players made their way to their respective dressing rooms, saying to him: "Because of you we only played a half-hour game." It’s reported that the former Inter Milan keeper simply smiled back at Van Dijk before heading off.
Liverpool had 34 shots during the contest - while Man Utd had six. Diogo Dalot was sent off late on for dissent, but the away side managed to hang on for the point.
The Reds were unable to leapfrog Arsenal into first spot - their draw means that they are now joint-second with Aston Villa after Unai Emery's men clinched a late winner at Brentford thanks to Ollie Watkins.
Van Dijk bemoans Man Utd style of play
The Dutchman expressed his disdain for the way Man Utd set up in his post-match comments, saying to Sky Sports: "There was only one team trying to win the game but unfortunately it did not happen. We were superior in all aspects, they were hoping to hurt us on the counter and they are buzzing with a point."
But Roy Keane, on pundit duty, retorted this. He did not mine his words, saying: "There's a lot of arrogance coming out of him, dissing Manchester United like that.
"He needs reminding that he is playing for a club that has won one title in thirty-odd years. Man United are in a difficult place. Like Liverpool were in a difficult place for many years. "So maybe that bit of arrogance backfired on him today."
Man Utd went into the game as the underdogs but came away with a point after Liverpool failed to put away their chances.
