Man Utd perform transfer U-turn as star put up for January sale

Manchester United are ready to sell Christian Eriksen during the January transfer window, according to a report.
The 31-year-old former Tottenham, Inter and Brentford star arrived at the club as a free agent in the summer of 2022 and made a positive impact in his first season at Old Trafford.
Eriksen, though, has been more peripheral this term as he has struggled to play more than a peripheral role in Erik ten Hag’s plans, while he has been missing since the middle of November with a knee injury that he is forecast to return from soon.
According to Football Insider, Man Utd are gearing up to allow the Denmark star to leave the club in January.
Eriksen faces increased competition at the club this season, with Mason Mount having arrived for big money in the summer to challenge for what would be his natural role in the side. Meanwhile, the rise of Scott McTominay, who is Man Utd’s top scorer so far this season, has complicated matters further for him.
FootballTransfers’ unique algorithm gives Eriksen an Expected Transfer Value of €11.6 million, down from a peak of over €70m while he was with Tottenham in January 2017.
Remarkably, the highest transfer fee that he has fetched during his career is a relatively meagre €27m, which is what Inter paid of him in 2019.

It is unclear which clubs would be interested in Eriksen during the January transfer window, but data analytics experts SciSports have offered a variety of strong possibilities for the player.
Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal are reckoned to be the best option based off their Career Advice tool while West Ham would also be an excellent choice for him, albeit the Hammers might not offer the playing time he would wish at this point in his career.
Roma, Everton and Nice are all considered good options that would give Eriksen more pitch time, and with Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s links to the Ligue 1 side, this might be a deal that is easy to broker.
