Dramatic U-turn over Sancho transfer situation
Manchester United’s hopes of offloading Jadon Sancho to Juventus appear to have been definitively dashed, with the Serie A club indicating that they are not interested in the England winger.
Sancho has been frozen out of the Man Utd team since August following a public spat with manager Erik ten Hag following the Red Devils’ defeat against Arsenal in early September.
Effectively exiled by Ten Hag, Sancho is expected to leave Old Trafford in January and it had looked like Juventus were the likeliest destination for the 23-year-old.
Recent days, though, have seen the Italian side start to backtrack from the player. Reports in Italy have gradually increased that Juve are fearful over the costs associated with the player.
Joining this chorus on Friday was Gazzetta dello Sport, which confirmed that Juventus no longer have any interest in the attacker.
Who wants to sign Sancho?
Borussia Dortmund have positioned themselves to sign Sancho, though the Bundesliga club are also liable to find the player’s wages too great. A swap deal with Donyell Malen is being discussed, however.
Super Lig club Galatasaray are also said to be keeping tabs on the ex-Manchester City youth, though it remains to be seen whether a move to Turkey would be one that would interest Sancho.
There is also interest from the Saudi Pro League, who had been strongly linked with the player following the closure of the summer transfer window around Europe. A deal was never done as Sancho was not interested in the move.
By the time the January transfer window rolls around, Sancho will have been without action for four months, and with Juventus pulling out of their chase for him, options for the Man Utd star are growing thin on the ground and may prompt him into a change of heart as he battles to save what was a once promising career.
