Manchester United target Donyell Malen 'would welcome' a move to Old Trafford, according to the Daily Express.

Malen is looking to leave Borussia Dortmund in January, while Jadon Sancho could be going the other way.

The Englishman is out of favour under Erik ten Hag and a return to Dortmund could be the move to get his career back on track.

It is unclear whether United would command a transfer fee, as well as Malen, in order to agree to a deal.

Sancho cost the club close to £100 million two years ago, while Malen is valued at just £25m.

Signed as Sancho's replacement, the 24-year-old has been a decent addition to the Bundesliga outfit, without setting the world alight.

He has scored 25 games in in 96 appearances in all competitions for the German outfit.

What are Sancho's other options?

Graeme Bailey reported on Wednesday that Bayer Leverkusen, RB Leipzig and VfB Stuttgart are all exploring a move for Sancho, too.

However, no club appears interested in paying a transfer fee for Sancho, while even a loan move would need to be subsidised by United due to his wages.

Given all these difficulties in offloading Sancho, United will consider releasing the player from his contract next year.

He has scored just 12 goals in 82 appearances and has regularly been a bench player in his time with the club.

He has also lost his place in the England national team squad and he knows he must move in January if he is to have a chance of going to Euro 2024 next summer.
