Tottenham will focus their attention on signing Radu Dragusin, according to Fabrizio Romano, and this is good news for Manchester United.

Ange Postecoglou has been unequivocal about Tottenham's need to reinforce their decimated defence in the January transfer window. The Australian has repeatedly told the media about signing a centre-back and Spurs are trying to get a deal done as soon as possible.

Among their targets are Radu Dragusin and Jarrad Branthwaite, as revealed by FootballTransfers, and Nice's Jean-Clair Todibo, who is also being heavily courted by Man Utd. Despite initiating early contact with the Frenchman, it appears that Spurs have given up hope of signing him.

That's at least according to Fabrizio Romano. The Italian transfer expert has revealed that Spurs are accelerating their pursuit of Dragusin because of the recognition that it will take an awful lot of negotiating to get Nice to sell Todibo in January. The Genoa defender, by contrast, is a lot more attainable and the north London side are hoping to get him in next week.

Todibo boost for Man Utd

Romano asserts that Spurs' "Todibo deal could collapse soon" which is great news for Man Utd, who almost appeared to be out of the the race to sign him when it was revealed that Tottenham had been hot on his tail.

Now, United should be considered the favourites to land him, though it is still unlikely that a move will materialise in January. Sir Jim Ratcliffe's investment in the club has finally been ratified - just awaiting Premier League approval - and he could be crucial in the deal.

Ratcliffe's INEOS group also own Nice and will be well aware that he could be a useful asset to the Red Devils, who have been keen to sign him since at least the summer.
