Mason Greenwood’s Man Utd future still in doubt as new details emerge

Manchester United are still very unlikely to welcome back Mason Greenwood next year with the Getafe player’s future still uncertain, according to reports.

Talksport states that Barcelona and Real Madrid are tracking the progress of Greenwood in Spain - but while the two Spanish giants are keen on securing his future, his parent club are not.

The 22-year-old’s loan ends at Getafe in the summer and there has been the idea that he would return to Old Trafford - but now reports suggest that it’s far from the truth.

Greenwood last played for Man United in a Premier League game against West Ham in January 2022. He has three goals and four assists in 14 LaLiga games this season.

How is Mason Greenwood doing in Spain?

Greenwood is enjoying a good run of form in Spain - his recent highlights reel against Atletico Madrid has gone viral following Getafe’s 3-3 draw with the club.

Though the youngster failed to find a goal, he did prove himself to be a nuisance to the opposition. Atletico striker Antoine Griezmann insisted after the match: “Mason Greenwood was really causing us problems in the second half. We couldn’t stop him and it cost us the game.”

Getafe boss Jose Bordalas also praised Greenwood after the game. Meanwhile, a viral clip showed Greenwood’s brilliant display, being the focal point of creation for the club.

Greenwood is currently on loan in Spain after an internal investigation at Man Utd culminated in a contract termination at the side.

The former England international had allegations against him of attempted rape, assault and coercive control - all of which were dropped. Greenwood denied all the charges.
