Michael Owen accused of 'talking rubbish' over blockbuster summer transfer

Manchester United legend Paul Ince has accused Michael Owen of 'talking rubbish' about Harry Kane's move to Bayern Munich.

Kane made the switch from Tottenham in the summer and he has made a phenomenal start to life in Germany.

However, Owen reckons that the England captain should have stayed in the Premier League, downplaying the potential achievement of winning the Bundesliga.

It is fair to say that Ince could not have disagreed more with the former Ballon d'Or winner's opinion.

"I think Michael Owen's comments on the Bundesliga are very unfair," Ince told DAZN Bet. "A title is a title. Bayern aren't even top of the Bundesliga.

"There's also the threat of Dortmund, Leipzig, and Stuttgart. It's not as easy as people think. Bayern barely won it last year. The Bundesliga is getting tougher.

"Any player who moves abroad and wins the league title has achieved something in my eyes."

Ince went on to say that Kane also has the opportunity to achieve European success at his new club.

"Bayern have won the Bundesliga every year since 2011, but they're judged on how they fare in the Champions League. I fancy them as winners every year, especially when they had Robert Lewandowski.

"I saw them against Manchester United and I think Bayern will have a big chance of winning. If you ask me, Michael Owen is talking a load of rubbish!

"Harry Kane is loving life, scoring goals, and playing well. He went to Germany for silverware, and it'll be great if he achieves that."

Owen believes that Kane should have stayed in England for the foreseeable future, rather than moving to Germany.

"Bayern Munich are a huge club in Europe, but he could have easily broken the Premier League goal record," Owen told BoyleSports.

"In my opinion, Bayern are going to win the Bundesliga every year either way. If Kane retires and can only point to his two or three Bundesliga medals, then I think staying in England would have been better.

"I, personally, wouldn't have done it. I would have changed things in the past to make sure I'm in a better position!

"He's similar to Shearer in a lot of ways. Alan probably thought Kane was going to break his record, and he probably let out a sigh of relief when Harry went to Germany."
