EXCLUSIVE: Tottenham make Branthwaite and Dragusin top January transfer targets
Tottenham have set their sights on Radu Dragusin and Jarrad Branthwaite ahead of the January transfer window, FootballTransfers can reveal.
The North London club are eager to bolster their backline for the second half of the season and their recruitment staff have pinpointed the pair over a possible switch in the winter window.
Dragusin, who is currently at Serie A club Genoa, has caught the attention of Tottenham's scouting team with his commanding performances in Italy. He is contracted with Il Grifone until 2027 - and while there has been a lot of speculation around a possible move for the 21-year-old, we understand that Spurs’ interest is genuine.
Meanwhile, Everton defender Branthwaite is also greatly admired as one of the standout young performers in the Premier League this season.
We are told, however, that the Toffees value the player at around £75million. The side are firmly of the belief that the youngster will be an England first-team player in the future and have put an asking price on his head to reflect that.
In October, Branthwaite committed his long-term future to Everton by signing a new four-year contract with them until June 2027.
What did Ange Postecoglou say about Tottenham’s transfers?
Ange Postecoglou had warned Tottenham during a press conference ahead of the match against Newcastle that the upcoming window will prove challenging. He said via Football.Londo: "Well, it is not easy because when you talk about the finished product, you know what that is going to cost in the market and there aren't that many there.
"So, it is about developing young players here and giving them information and more room for them to continue to grow and understand the different options they have in those areas. Some of it is the experience of them being in those positions and us giving them new information to execute it better next time."
Tottenham's pursuit of defensive reinforcements comes as they aim to solidify their position in the Premier League and compete at the highest level in domestic and European competitions.
The potential additions of Dragusin and Branthwaite could provide crucial depth and competition for places in the backline.
