Tottenham 'keeping close eye' on top target ahead of January move
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed FootballTransfers' reporting on Tottenham eyeing Serie A sensation Radu Dragusin for January.
Decimated defensively, Ange Postecoglou is keen to add reinforcements to his side in the winter transfer window. Spurs are in the market for a central defender, although Micky van de Ven could make his return from injury as early as next month.
Nevertheless, there is a clear need to bolster the backline. Having sold Davinson Sanchez after the Premier League summer window shut, Tottenham left themselves shorthanded on centre-backs and it eventually came back to bite them.
Jean-Clair Todibo, who has been heavily linked with Man Utd, has emerged as a credible target for the north London club in recent times and tentative talks over a potential deal have already started. As FootballTransfers has explained, Bayer Leverkusen's Odilon Kossounou would also be an ideal reinforcement for January.
Finally, Everton's Jarrad Branthwaite and Genoa's Radu Dragusin are defenders that the Spurs hierarchy have also been monitoring. Indeed, FootballTransfers exclusively revealed that the two are the top targets for January. Now, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Spurs are 'keeping a close eye' on the latter.
Spurs want Dragusin
The transfer expert took to X to confirm FootballTransfers' reporting: "Understand Tottenham director Johan Lange was in attendance at Genoa-Juventus last week to monitor Radu Dragusin. No formal approach to Genoa yet but Spurs keep close eye on Dragusin."
Dragusin has starred for Genoa this term, with the Romanian helping the promoted side to keep a nice distance between themselves and the relegation places so far. At 21, Dragusin appears a great prospect.
The defender was also previously linked with Spurs' hated rivals Arsenal, which prompted this response from his agent: “I spoke with Newcastle, with Arsenal, with Tottenham. I also have messages with them, conversations. There are teams that ask [about Dragusin]."
“I want to say that 100 per cent by next summer, Radu will play in a not [just] strong, [but] very strong club! In the top 10 in the world. He wants to be in the Premier League, but I know that Milan like him a lot."
