Liverpool boss Klopp demands 'extraordinary offer' from Spurs for international star
Jurgen Klopp says it would take something special to lure goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher away from Liverpool this summer, amid rumoured interest from Tottenham.
Spurs have joined Brentford and Brighton in being linked with a move for the Irish international, who will struggle for regular first-team football at Liverpool while one of the world’s best ‘keepers, Alisson, occupies the number one spot.
Our in-house Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) model currently rates Kelleher at €0.9m; to say the Reds would want more for the 24-year-old is an understatement.
Speaking ahead of Liverpool’s home Premier League clash with Aston Villa on Saturday, Klopp – who will serve a one-match touchline ban for comments he made about referee Paul Tierney – said: “I can’t see Caoimhin leaving; it would take an extraordinary offer.”
Despite serving as Alisson’s understudy, Kelleher – who has won 10 caps for the Republic of Ireland – did play a key role in the Liverpool first team last season.
He featured in four of the Reds’ games en route to winning the League Cup – including the final at Wembley, where he scored what proved to be the decisive penalty in a shootout against Chelsea.

A summer of switches between the sticks?
Tottenham are set to be in the market for a new goalkeeper during the upcoming transfer window, with doubts over the long-term future of error-prone number one Hugo Lloris.
Spurs could battle it out with Chelsea for Brentford’s David Raya, though, which might leave the Bees searching for a new first-choice ‘keeper of their own.
As for Brighton, there are doubts over their situation between the sticks, with head coach Roberto De Zerbi recently dropping Robert Sanchez in favour of Jason Steele.
