Man Utd star slams ‘FAKE' transfer rumours
Manchester United winger Amad Diallo has denied claims that he could complete a loan move to Middlesbrough during the January transfer window.
Amad had been primed to leave Man Utd on loan in the summer but picked up a nasty knee injury that caused him to miss much of the first half of the season. This ended any prospect of a deal at that point.
He has since returned to competitive action, featuring for 36 minutes off the bench as Erik ten Hag’s side were defeated 2-1 against Nottingham Forest, but there are rumours abound that he could depart in January.
Middlesbrough, where former Man Utd midfielder Michael Carrick is manager, have been linked with Amad, but the 21-year-old says that if he is to move back to the Championship, it will be with Sunderland, where he spent a successful spell last season.
An image has appeared on X of an Instagram DM that the attacker sent to a fan denying the latest rumours over his future.
“Hi mate, it’s AMAD. The rumours bind me on a loan to Boro, it’s fake. If I had to come back on loan to the Championship, it would be at Sunderland and not anywhere else,” the message purporting to come from the youngster says.
Limited Man Utd chances
Amad joined Man Utd in January 2021 but has played only 10 first-team matches for the Old Trafford side, scoring one goal and creating one more.
He spent a six-month loan spell in Scotland with Rangers before completing a move to Sunderland last season, where he would score 14 times in 42 Championship matches. He had been linked with a potential return to the Stadium of Light in the summer before being hit with injury.
United’s offensive problems this season, plus the departure of Jadon Sancho to Borussia Dortmund on loan, have opened the possibility that Amad will be more prominently involved in Ten Hag’s plans in the weeks ahead.
