According to Fichajes, Barca are becoming increasingly worried about Pedri’s recurring physical problems and are concerned that this could mean that he will be injury-prone throughout his career.

The 21-year-old has played just 13 games this season in all competitions due to muscular problems, contributing only two goals and one assist.

He has missed 13 games this season due to injury, continuing a trend from the previous two campaigns.

In 2022-23, Pedri missed 15 games with injury while in 2021-22 he was absent from 41 matches.

Fichajes reports that Arsenal, Man City and Bayern Munich are all interested in signing Pedri this summer.

With Pedri’s contract expiring in 2026, Barcelona have a decision to make..

Given the number of injuries Pedri keeps getting, there is the possibility that they could consider a sale.

Pedri's injury problems

These injury problems have been persistent ever since 2021 when the then-teenager played a world record number of games.

He clocked up a quite unprecedented 5,275 minutes during the year.

He played more games than anyone else in the world in the 2020/21 season, an immense 73. This included not just his games for Barça but also for Spain, including Euro 2020 and the Tokyo Olympics,.

The feeling is that Pedri, now 21, is suffering as a result of being played too much that year.

He remains one of the best midfielders in the world when fit. The problem is that he has rarely been fit in the last two years.

Pedri is not the only young Barcelona star to have suffered from injury recently. Fellow midfielder Gavi is also set to miss the rest of the season after tearing his ACL.
