EXCLUSIVE: Arsenal and Man City target Neto throws doubt on January switch from Wolves
Pedro Neto has informed Wolves' sporting director, Matt Hobbs, that he will not be seeking a move during the January transfer window, FootballTransfers has been told.
Sources have informed us that the Portuguese winger, who is enjoying his best-ever Premier League season, has expressed his desire to depart from the club at the end of the season but won’t look to push for a transfer this month.
We understand that Arsenal had been considered front-runners for Neto's signature but now Manchester City have now entered the race to secure the services of the highly-rated attacker. Sources reveal that representatives from the Premier League champions have already initiated talks with Neto's agent to gauge the player's interest in a move to the Etihad Stadium. It’s believed that the Citizens have a good relationship with Neto’s agent as well as Wolves chief Hobbs, meaning that any summer deal should not run into many complications.
Furthermore, sources suggest that City's interest in Neto is driven by their need for a defensively sound right winger, aiming to provide support to Kyle Walker, who is experiencing a decline in pace given his veteran age.
How much is Pedro Neto valued?
Indeed, Neto has been one of the Premier League’s stand-out performers this season, with eight goal contributions in 11 matches.
The 23-year-old’s contract is up at Molineux in 2027 but there is an indication that he will be sold this year, with many elite sides targeting the player.
Neto joined Wolves from Lazio in what was a €17.90million deal. FootballTransfers’ Estimated Transfer Value algorithm ranks Neto at between €8.3m and €13.8m, though his market value will be considerably higher.
