Arsenal given 'GREEN LIGHT to sign PSG star as Romano confirms €30m deal agreed
Arsenal can complete their first January transfer of the month thanks to Bayern Munich’s decision to sign Sacha Boey from Galatasaray.
Bayern’s decision to sign Boey for €30 million has been confirmed by football transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano and means that the Bundesliga champions are no longer interested in PSG’s Nordi Mukiele, who had been seen as an alternative to Kieran Trippier.
This opens the door for Arsenal to make a move for the 26-year-old before the end of the month.
Manager Mikel Arteta is looking for additional strength across his defensive line, but particularly on the right, and the versatile Mukiele could bring just that.
Although he is capable of operating as a centre-back, he is a dynamic attacking option down the right flank, and Football.London suggest that PSG have given the Gunners the “green light” for a loan move for the former Montpellier player.
This is touted as a “risk-free” deal for Arsenal, who have been depleted on that flank of their defence by persistent injury problems this season.
Mukiele heading for PSG exit
Mukiele, meanwhile, has struggled to get game time this season under Luis Enrique. He finds himself as comprehensively second choice behind Achraf Hakimi at right-back at Parc des Princes, while the likes of Carlos Soler and Warren Zaire-Emery used in that role too.
This suggests that PSG could be open to a temporary transfer, having already added defensive midfielder Lucas Beraldo and centre-back Gabriel Moscardo to their ranks this January, albeit the latter is staying on loan at Corinthians until the summer.
With a string of long-term defensive injuries, including Presnel Kimpembe and Milan Skriniar, it remains to be seen just how keen PSG are to offload a versatile performer like Mukiele on a temporary basis. Nevertheless, he fits the bill for what Arsenal and Arteta need.
