Fabrizio Romano gives Chelsea brilliant update on 'done deal'
Fabrizio Romano has poured cold water on claims that Tottenham's deal to sign Antonio Nusa is 'done,' giving hope to Chelsea and his other suitors.
The Norwegian wonderkid, likened to Kylian Mbappe and Neymar, is a long-standing Chelsea target, with the Blues having attempted an ultimately futile Deadline Day swoop for the Club Brugge youngster in the summer of 2023.
The winger has continued to enhance his reputation this season, with two goals and assists so far this term in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League. Unsurprisingly, then, more clubs have joined Chelsea in tracking the 18-year-old, chief among them Tottenham.
In fact, Spurs' interest in the Norwegian attacker has become increasingly concrete in recent days, so much so that there has been talk of a formal bid. However, some outlets have jumped the gun in claiming that a deal is already done, according to Fabrizio Romano, who insists that the race to sign Nusa is still very much open.
What did Romano say?
"One to watch will be once again Antonio Nusa," Romano said on his YouTube channel, "born in 2005, [a] winger from Club Brugge, the conversations are ongoing between Tottenham and Club Brugge. From what I'm hearing, there will be new contact in the next days."
"Tottenham want to sign the player now and allow him to join in the summer. Nusa doesn't want to leave Brugge now in January, he wants to complete the season at Club Brugge, so now Tottenham will have to find a solution for the summer."
"But there are also other clubs in the race. It's not a done deal. This is why Tottenham want to be fast, but as of now, the race is still open."
