William Gallas names two stars not good enough for Chelsea

Chelsea legend William Gallas has singled out Conor Gallagher and Armando Broja as the two first-team players who are not good enough to play for the Blues.

Both Gallagher and Broja have featured heavily recently, with the Englishman in particular a regular under manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Gallagher has been heavily linked with a transfer away from the club to Tottenham, and Gallas believes he is not up to the standard of Chelsea.

What did Gallas say?

“Conor Gallagher is a great runner but quality-wise, he isn’t the same as Enzo and Caicedo,” Gallas told Gambling Zone.

“He can help your team to press and press very high, but when he has the ball his quality and technique is not number one.

“It will take more time to play a pass and find his teammate, take an extra touch and in another situation, he should try and play one touch.

“I think it’s the opinion of many people that he slows Chelsea down a bit and maybe they need to change their system in order to give the opportunity to another player as this system might not suit them.”

Gallas also singled out Armandro Broja for criticism, stating that the young attacker is also not of the required quality to play for Chelsea.

Broja has scored just two goals in 17 appearances for Chelsea this season, with seven of these starts.

“Broja is still young and you can see there is quality there, but I watched the Fulham game and I watched him at Southampton and he’s not a player who can fit at Chelsea,” Gallas said.

“When you play up front you have to be a monster. You have to have a different set of skills, score goals and even if he tries to score, he has to work more.

“He’s 22 and at this age in football, you have to be the number one and if he doesn’t score goals right now he won’t be a top class striker.”

Chelsea are next in action next week in the second leg of the EFL Cup semi-final.

The Blues trail 1-0 from the first leg but will play at home at Stamford Bridge in the return game.
