Liverpool 'agree terms' for wonderkid transfer - club owner

Liverpool youngster Fabio Carvalho will join Hull City on loan, club owner Acun Ilicali has confirmed.

The 21-year-old attacking midfielder was recalled from his unsuccessful loan spell at RB Leipzig shortly before the turn of the year. Carvalho failed to become more than a rotation player in the Bundesliga and Liverpool made the decision that it would be better for his development to return to England.

The Portuguese played just 360 minutes in Germany, continuing the disappointing trend of last season. After initially being heavily utilised by Jurgen Klopp last term, Carvalho eventually disappeared from the first-team scene and there were even rumours in the summer that he could be sold.

Now back in England, the youngster is set for another loan and the deal is all but completed.

Carvalho set for Hull

Despite Southampton appearing to be the favourites to land Carvalho on loan, it is now Hull City who will secure his services until the end of the season. Initially revealed by The Athletic, Hull owner Acun Ilicali has now confirmed to Sky Sports that the youngster is on his way to the Championship.

"We agreed all terms with him," Ilicali said, "he will wear the Hull City shirt in the following days." The deal will not include a buy option as Liverpool still believe that the youngster has a big future at the club.

Carvalho was signed for close to €6 million in the summer of 2022 and has made 21 appearances for the Reds to date. At Hull, the prospect will fight for a promotion place, with the Tigers currently sitting just a point outside of the playoff spots.

Positive talks with head coach Liam Rosenior and Reds loanee Tyler Morton reportedly tipped the scales in favour of Hull over third-placed Southampton.
