Liverpool identify €275m transfer shortlist as Klopp prepares for spending spree
Liverpool have drawn up a transfer shortlist of six players that Jurgen Klopp would like to sign in 2024 as they prepare for a Premier League title fight.
The Reds are currently top of the English top flight and are looking to consolidate their position by adding several reinforcements during the January transfer window.
In addition, they have already started planning for the summer, with six names listed as possible targets, according to Caught Offside.
As per the aforementioned report, Liverpool want to strengthen in multiple places, namely centre-back, central midfield and right-wing.
Caught Offside have reported that Goncalo Inacio, Khephren Thuram, Manu Kone, Assan Ouedraogo, Pedro Neto and Johan Bakayoko form Liverpool’s shortlist of six players to target in 2024.
If the Reds are to sign all six stars, it could cost them a whopping €275 million. That is due to the report price tags attached to each player.
Liverpool to spend big in 2024?
Despite spending €172m on four midfielders in the 2023 summer transfer window, Liverpool are reportedly still in the market for another player in midfield.
According to Caught Offside, Klopp has identified Thuram, Kone and Ouedraogo as credible targets.
Both Thuram and Kone have a reported price tag of €40m, as per Corriere dello Sport and Sky Germany respectively, while Ouedraogo has a release clause of €20m according to Florian Plettenberg.
In addition, Inacio’s release clause stands at €60m following the new contract he signed at Sporting CP last year.
Liverpool target | Reported asking price |
---|---|
Pedro Neto | €70m |
Goncalo Inacio | €60m |
Johan Bakayoko | €45m |
Khephren Thuram | €40m |
Manu Kone | €40m |
Assan Ouedraogo | €20m |
Neto and Bakayoko have both been shortlisted as possible long-term replacements for Mohamed Salah and they would cost Liverpool a lot of money. According to TEAMTalk, Wolves would allow Portuguese winger Neto to leave for €70m, while PSV would demand €45m for Bakayoko as per Metro.
It remains to be seen if Liverpool are willing to spend big yet again, but they have high aspirations for 2024 and it could cost them a fortune.
