€100m Man Utd target breaks silence on his future
Spanish wonderkid Javi Guerra has opened up on his future amid interest from Manchester United and Newcastle.
The 20-year-old central midfielder has burst onto the scene this term, becoming a regular fixture for hometown club Valencia and already doubling his minutes tally of last season. Guerra's impact has been quite stunning, notching four goals and an assist so far in 2023/24.
Given his talent, Valencia made sure to act swiftly to get him to commit his future to the club, already tying him down to a long-term deal in May of 2023 and fitting him with a whopping €100 million release clause. This hefty price tag has done little to deter his suitors, however.
While no club are obviously able to pay this figure in the January transfer window, the summer could be a different story. Indeed, there is no shortage of interest in the Valencia starlet, with the likes of Man Utd, Newcastle and Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid all at various times associated with Guerra.
Guerra to Old Trafford?
While Man Utd are currently hamstrung by Financial Fair Play restrictions, the impending investment of Sir Jim Ratcliffe will likely solve that problem ahead of the summer transfer window, meaning that the Red Devils will have plenty of money to spend, though whether signing a player like Guerra should be their priority is up for debate.
Nevertheless, the Manchester giants are said to be very keen indeed on securing the youngster's signature. Luring him away from his home could prove difficult, however, judging by his latest comments on his future.
“Of course, I would like to continue here for as many years as I can,” Guerra told La Liga World (via GSFN). “Because in the end the club have given me everything and allowed me to fulfil the dream I have had since I was little. The truth is that I am very happy here in my city with my family and everyone around me, I couldn’t ask for more.”
