Arsenal, Chelsea and Man Utd 'offered' bargain Barcelona flop

Chelsea and Manchester United have been presented with the chance to sign Martin Braithwaite, according to a report.

The Danish striker, formerly of Middlesbrough and, infamously, of Barcelona, is enjoying a solid campaign with the Blaugrana's city rivals Espanyol in the Spanish second division. The Barcelona-based club were relegated from LaLiga last term and Braithwaite actually threatened to retire in the summer unless Espanyol showed themselves willing to sanction his departure.

No move materialised, however, and the 32-year-old remained with the club. Espanyol will be glad he did as he currently tops the LaLiga 2 scoring charts, with his side sitting in third behind Sporting Gijon in second and Leganes at the summit, the club Braithwaite once controversially left to join Barcelona, condemning them to relegation.

Fabrizio Romano recently mentioned the Dane as 'one to watch' due to his €7 million release clause and a fresh report now makes a quite stunning assertion regarding the striker.

Braithwaite offered to Premier League giants

According to HITC, an array of Premier League clubs have been "made aware of Braithwaite’s possible availability." These clubs include the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Man Utd.

The report further asserts that several of the clubs he has been offered to are actively considering making a move for the 32-year-old. Arsenal, Chelsea and Man Utd are all in need of bolstering their number nine department, but whether they would really be interested in signing the veteran remains to be seen.

United appear his least likely destination. Not only would a deal smack of desperation, similar to last year's loan signing of Wout Weghorst, but the Red Devils simply don't have the financial wiggle room to sign anyone, as confirmed by Erik ten Hag at his latest press conference.

"I looked but there is no space. No space on FFP to do something about this lack of quantity in the striker position," the Dutchman said.
