Gimenez reveals dream club amid Real Madrid and Chelsea links
Santiago Giménez of Feyenoord is being courted by almost every club from the European elite, including Real Madrid and Chelsea.
The Mexican striker is in the race for the top scorer title in the Eredivisie this season, together with Vangelis Pavlidis from AZ, and therefore seems to be in his final months at De Kuip. Despite the interest from the European aristocracy, Giménez hopes to end his career elsewhere.
“I would like to play for Boca,” Giménez told Futbolero de México. The Feyenoord striker explains that his love for Boca Juniors largely comes from his father: “My father played for Boca and since I was a child he instilled this passion for Boca in me. It would be a dream for me.”
Gimenez's future plans
Although Christian Giménez only played 48 games for Boca Juniors between 1998 and 2003, the family has embraced the Argentine top club. After leaving Boca Juniors, Chaco played for Independiente, América and even together with his son at Cruz Azul before ending his career at Pachuca in 2019.
Santiago, however, wants to end his career in Argentina rather than in Mexico. Even though the Feyenoord striker dreams about Boca Juniors, he is still only getting started in Europe: “First I want to pursue my career in Europe. I want to enjoy it. If it happens, I would of course love it.”
Yet both father and son know that there will come a time when Santi will leave Feyenoord: “For a player, a departure in the summer is the best thing,” Chaco told Algemeen Dagblad, which seems to rule out a departure in January.
The likes of Chelsea, Tottenham, Atletico and Real Madrid have all been credited with an interest in the striker, who was at one point touted for a €100 million transfer.
