Manchester City spent the most amount of money of any club in world football during the 2025 January transfer window.

Pep Guardiola’s side made a statement of intent in the market, following a string of poor results to end their year, by splashing an initial €218 million on Omar Marmoush (Eintracht Frankfurt), Nico Gonzalez (FC Porto), Abdukodir Khusanov (RC Lens), Vitor Reis (Palmeiras) and Juma Bah (Real Valladolid).

That figure could rise even higher with add-ons, with Man City spending lavishly to rectify a hitherto underwhelming campaign.

Al-Nassr occupy second place as they completed the most expensive signing of the window, splashing €77m on Aston Villa's Jhon Duran, with the deal potentially rising as high as €90m.

Surprisingly, Ligue 1 strugglers Stade Rennais sit in third as they spent a good chunk of the money they made in recent years through wonderkind sales. They shelled out €74.7m on seven new signings, while they also appointed Habib Beye as their third coach of the season during the window.

Paris Saint-Germain racked up the fourth-highest total spend during the January window, thanks to their €70m purchase of Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.

Saudi side Al-Ahli sit fifth after a tumultuous window in which they initially planned to sack coach Matthias Jaissle before changing plans following fan backlash. They then backed the German with a €50m outlay on Galeno and the €9m signing of Matteo Dams.

In sixth place is RB Leipzig. They spent €50m to turn Xavi Simons’ loan deal from Paris Saint-Germain into a permanent one, while they also signed Wolfsburg wing-back Ridle Baku and Caen youngster Tidiam Gomis.

Wolves made a late splash before the window closed by striking deals for Stade Reims pair Emmanuel Agbadou and Marshall Munetsi to the tune of a combined €38m. They also spent €12m on Red Star Belgrade's Nasser Djiga.

Promoted Serie A side Como were able to spend heavily thanks to their famous backers, which include Thierry Henry, to try and stave off relegation. Eight fresh faces were added with an outlay of €49.2m - and this is enough for eighth place.

After a summer of lavish spending, Brighton again dipped into the market in January as they shelled out €48.8m on Eiran Cashin, Diego Gomez and Stefanos Tzimas.

AC Milan complete the top 10 after a hectic Deadline Day that saw them snap up Santiago Gimenez from Feyenoord for €32m, Warren Bondo from Monza for €10m, Joao Felix from Chelsea for a €5.5m loan fee and Riccardo Sottil from Fiorentina for a loan worth €1m.
