Osimhen SLAMS Kvaratskhelia's 'piece of filth' agent in new Napoli crisis
Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has branded Kvicha Kvaratskhelia’s agent Mamuka Jugeli a “piece of filth” following comments the Georgia international’s agent made on Tuesday.
Osimhen has been linked with a transfer away from Napoli for months, with Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United among the clubs interested in him, but appears ready to commit himself to a new contract at the club, ending speculation that he could depart during the January transfer window.
The Serie A champions have endured a tense defence of their title, already sacking head coach Rudi Garcia to replace him with Walter Mazzarri, who has fared even worse as they have crashed to ninth in the standings, fully 20 points behind leaders Inter.
And Kvaratskhelia agent Jugeli has only made the atmosphere even more toxic following comments he made to Georgian journalist Tsotne Kinkladze.
On Tuesday, he claimed: “Osimhen will sign for a Saudi club in the summer. Kvara won’t sign for a Saudi club even if they give him €1 billion!”
Osimhen swiftly issued a response to the agent of his teammate.
On his Instagram profile, he commented: “Dear Mamuka Jugeli, you are a piece of filth and a disgrace. I’m embarrassed at your sense of reasoning. Dumbf***! Keep my name out of your mouth!”
Osimhen in the eye of another crisis
This is not the first time this season that Osimhen has found himself embroiled in a controversial situation.
Early in the campaign, he had a public spat with Garcia on the touchline while he was also the target of bizarre TikTok videos on Napoli’s official account, one of which appeared to mock him for missing a penalty. The club failed to issue a full apology.
This apparent rift between two of Napoli’s outstanding players, though, is arguably the most devastating twist for the Serie A side this season.
It certainly sends a signal to Osimhen’s Premier League suitors – Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United - that he is not settled at the club, regardless of whether he signs his new contract or not.
