Arsenal handed SHOCK Kylian Mbappe boost
Kylian Mbappe would “willingly join” Arsenal to follow in Thierry Henry’s footsteps, according to sensational reports.
The Paris Saint-Germain superstar has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid this summer, but Mbappe would also be open to joining Mikel Arteta’s side too.
That is according to The Independent’s Miguel Delaney, who has revealed: “Mbappe’s wider circle reached out to Liverpool last year, but there was no offer from the Anfield hierarchy.
“They just didn’t want him that badly to break their entire financial strategy. It’s similar with Arsenal, who Mbappe would willingly join. That is in part a question of legacy, too, since it appeals to the player to follow Thierry Henry.
“This appreciation for history and legends had been the sort of thinking that once guided his career plan.”
Arsenal have been heavily linked with signing Brentford striker Ivan Toney this summer amid the goal-scoring struggles of Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah. Victor Osimhen has also been touted as an option, while Mbappe could become an alternative if the Gunners decide to fund his huge wages.
Henry, one of Mbappe’s idols, made 377 appearances and scored 228 goals during an illustrious career at Arsenal and could play a role in bringing his countryman to the Emirates Stadium in 2024.
Rodrygo wants Mbappe at Real Madrid
Brazil international Rodrygo is seemingly the most likely current Real Madrid player to lose his spot in the starting XI if Mbappe arrives at the Santiago Bernabeu, but he wants to see the PSG star join this summer regardless.
After Los Blancos’ 4-0 win over Girona, Rodrygo told reporters: “I would love Mbappe to come. I always want to play with the best players and he's one of the best in the world. I can't talk much about him. He's a PSG player and I have to respect him.”
Mbappe has scored 20 goals and provided four assists in 19 Ligue 1 games so far this season.
